In October 2025, the International Construction Arbitrators Association (“ICAA”) was established in London to serve as a dedicated platform for information on arbitrators experienced in international construction disputes. The Association’s primary goal is to provide a reliable, publicly accessible list of specialist international construction arbitrators and to promote the appointment of such experts in relevant proceedings. It will also offer nomination services upon request.
At this early stage, the ICAA is overseen by a steering group pending its first general meeting. Despite its recent formation, the Association already features 27 full members representing diverse jurisdictions worldwide. These include several prominent UK lawyers, members of the Society of Construction Arbitrators and the current global president of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
The establishment of the ICAA marks a positive development for the international construction arbitration community. By providing an accessible pool of qualified arbitrators, the Association is expected to become a valuable resource for parties, counsel and institutions involved in cross-border construction disputes.
